Bands I'm digging lately: Rubblebucket

Omega La La

2012 is the year of music to make you dance (it should be known that every year is that for me!). Rubblebucket is just such a band. This indie pop group reminds me of Foster the People and Tune-Yards, not so much in sound, but in their ability to shake up a genre and make popular, colorful, delightful pop music while maintaining impecable musicianship, instrumentals, and innovation.

Their album, Omega La La has garnered quite a bit of acclaim, including appearances on several top album lists for 2011. It is a well rounded album and these musicians are not afraid to play with sounds, building off of themes, often creating organized, beautiful cacophony. It is sometimes jazzy, sparking my eternal desire to walk down the street in a New Orleans style parade band. It is all kinds of great.
