Concerts you should be going to: @portugaltheman

Dear Austinites,

It's the magical time of year, the time of year worth sweating through the triple digit hells for, because while the summers were flooded with festivals that left us with sunburn and swamp ass, the fall is for warm days, cool nights and concerts!

Enter Portugal. The Man. playing Thursday night at Stubbs. He's catchy, he rocks, his kills a show, and quite frankly, I can't think of a better way to spend a perfect Austin fall evening. Get your tickets!

Sincerely,
Accidental Music

P.S. (I'll be photographing the concert so stay tuned for sweet pics on Friday!)

P.P.S this song is catchy as hell even if the video is kind of freaky and weird.

Weekend Update: Slowtrain

So it's been a long week and what better way to ring in a long holiday weekend than a rocking, forget-the-heat (or an apartment infested with mice), awesome, great night this Friday with Slowtrain at Club Deville.

This group is anything but the slow that their name might suggest. They rock, blend fantastic instrumentals, and I am itching to see them in concert tomorrow night. The show is only $5, which is a total steal for a group you will probably one day say, "Yeah, no big deal, I once saw them for 5 bucks at this intimate outdoor concert in Austin, TX."

See you all there.

Weekend Update

Anyone else sweating themselves into a state of turing into Oscar the Grouch or is it just me? Nothing cures a hot, crappy week than a cold drink, AC, and the sounds of great music! Here are some highlights coming up this weekend:

Wallpaper will be playing Saturday night at Beauty Bar. This might be one of those shows that you brag about to your friends in the not so distant future that you saw them in this intimate setting. Tickets are only $7.

I'll be catching SlowTrain at Continental Club on Saturday night. This local group is sure to snap you out of any hot weather bad moods this week has brought.

Blues on the Green

Wednesday night I headed out with thousands of other music loving Austinites, picnic blanket and coolers in tow, to Zilker Park for Blues on the Green. This week featured The Bright Light Social Hour with Suzanna Choffel opening. I love this town and its warm embrace of live music. It was the perfect Texas evening!

Quintessential music festival toys!

A sight of beauty: Austin skyline with a stage radiating music and a crowd of people to listen and love
