They had me at “We need more people up on stage,” though to be fair, they’d had me long before that. Dale Earnhardt Jr Jr played to a sold out show indoors at Emo’s on Saturday night. They arrived on stage wearing their racing jackets and nascar schtick, but quickly stripped them for suits, evidence that this band doesn’t need to hide behind schtick. They have the talent and music chops to put on a great show, which was awesome from start to finish. The bubble machine that went off for several songs was a perfect complement to their light, fun sound. I never stopped dancing and quite literally leapt onstage when they asked folks to come on up and don skeleton masks for their final song. I can’t wait to catch them again at ACL.

The night I danced on stage with Dale Earnhardt Jr Jr

They arrived on stage wearing their racing jackets and nascar schtick, but quickly stripped them for suits, evidence that this band doesn’t need to hide behind schtick.
