If you’re not busy barbecuing with family, picnicking at Zilker park, or relaxing on a boat somewhere for this holiday weekend, there are a lot of great shows to catch. Or perhaps you might just need a dark place to hang out where no one will notice that you forgot to put on sunscreen all day.
On Saturday night Dale Earnhardt Jr Jr will be playing at Emo’s along with The Generationals. Jr Jr is a great group coming out of SXSW who has a fun, whimsical sound that will be perfect for this weekend kick off to the summer. They are also getting a lot of buzz for putting on crazy shows with lots of quirky effects. The crowds are even getting involved and I’ve heard rumors of skeleton costumes. It’s guaranteed to be a good time.
Stubbs is also throwing their big concert with Manchester Orchestra and Cage The Elephant. It should be a fabulous show, though I personally prefer the lighter sounds of the Emo’s lineup. That show has also been sold out for a while, though I think I heard they released a few more tickets this week.
Whatever your plans, I hope they are musically filled and you remember to wear sunscreen!
