Rumor has it that the boys of Foster the People are some of the nicest guys in the business. If my random meeting this afternoon with Isom Innis (who tours with the group) is any indication, it seems that the rumors are true.
It all started with my mother, who told me from a young age that it never hurts to ask for things. When I didn’t hear back from Foster’s “people” about bringing my camera to tonights show and I was downtown doing some work, I figured I’d wander over to Emo’s and ask someone there. It was that moment when I found myself peering through an open back door with my voice echoing “hellooooo?” and the Foster the People tour bus parked behind me that I started to feel like a little bit of a creeper. A man walked by the door and ignored me, another shrugged his shoulders at my question and said that he didn’t work there. I stood outside on the sidewalk weighing my options, my mother’s voice ringing in my ears. And then the door to the tour bus opened and a young band looking gentleman stepped out.
“Are you with the band?” I asked, thinking as I said it how ridiculous I must seem. He was, in fact, with the band and he listened to my camera question and went in search of answers. What a guy!
I cannot bring my fancy camera tonight to the concert, but my mother was right, it still didn’t hurt to ask. I ended up having a delightful conversation with Isom there on the sidewalk. It wasn’t until halfway through the conversation that I remembered that the earphones I held in my hand were actively playing Torches and I wondered if he could hear it and what he must possibly think of me.
So I might have unintentionally stalked Foster the People this afternoon, but it’s good to know that the rumors of these boys are true. It makes me love them that much more. Now I’m off to lounge by the pool pre-game for tonights show (and after party) and I can only hope that when they dedicate Warrant to me at tonights show that it won’t be to that creepy stalker but that cool chick on the sidewalk. Hey, a girl can dream
