While I pride myself on my multi-tasking skills, when it comes to movies, there is usually only so much my brain can handle at once, which is why I almost never notice background music until I have seen a movie a second time. I am too caught up in dialogue and plot. But, this weekend while watching Happythankyoumoreplease, I was struck so much by the music, that I found I missed delightful plot and dialogue in Josh Radner's wonderful film. Fortunately, I have Netflix and can go back and watch it again!
The soundtrack, or at least the music used (I couldn't find an actual soundtrack), has a great deal of music by Jaymay, with songs by The Generationals, The War on Drugs, Blind Pilot, Dr Dog, and Cloud Cult thrown in. It was a perfect blend of music that not only all worked well together as songs, but enhanced so many of the scenes they were accompanying. If there was an actual soundtrack, I would buy it in a heartbeat, but I guess I will have to settle for creating it myself on Spotify.
Check out Happythankyoumoreplease for its great story and fabulous music.
