Caitlin Rose Concert Review

“If there’s anything I’m not, it’s professional.” Well if Caitlin Rose is no professional as she so claimed at the start of her set on Saturday night at Stubbs, she makes up for it with her musical talent. This indie rock version of a country singer reminds me of Dolly Parton with her soulful way of crooning out stories entwined in beautiful melodies. She has a raw, honest poetry to her lyrics and her melodies are the kind I find myself humming all day long. Her set on Saturday was a mix of original work and covers of classic country tunes that were charming even with some of her lyrical mishaps. She is backed by a delightful group of hipster cowboys or maybe they’re cowboy hipsters? Either way, they are a talented group and round out Caitlin’s beautiful country voice. She also invited Robert Ellis up to perform a song with her, which was special treat!

Caitlin has quickly earned her way onto my favorites list and seeing her live was even more delightful than I hoped it would be.
